IVCC MEN'S GOLF FINISHES 2nd AT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

IVCC MEN'S GOLF FINISHES 2nd AT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

IVCC brought all 12 players to compete for the Arrowhead Conference Championship. This broke down to two teams and two individuals (purple and grey). The 36-18-hole format proved to be a tough test, but the conditions of the course and the weather were perfect at Prairie View Golf Course in Byron Illinois.

After day 1, IVCC purple was sitting in 2nd , 7 shots behind Blackhawk and IVCC Grey was sitting in 4th.  After it was all said and done, IVCC purple was able to close the gap, but it was not enough. They finished runner up out of 9 teams, just 4 shots back from the champions Blackhawk. The purple team was led by Jonathan Cooper (79/77/76) who finished 3rd individually and The Grey team finished in 4th lead by an all-star showing by Grant Plym (78/77/83) who finished T6 individually.

Although IVCC did not take home the title, they did however take over the podium in another way. Out of the 15 possible spots for Arrowhead All Conference medalists, IVCC claimed 7 spots of the 15.

Congrats to those 7 who medaled for IVCC:

Jonathan Cooper - 3rd

Drake Stoudt - 5th

Grant Plym -T6th

Jake Delaney - T9th

Dylan Cartwright - T9th

Carter Fenza - T11th

Camden Figgins -14th

Coach Guilfoyle shared, "I am so proud of these players. They battled so hard and played so well. Unfortunately, the occasional bigger than what you want number happened at the wrong time again to keep us away from the title. But instead of going on about what could have been and repeating an old tale, I'd rather speak praise of my players right now. There is just so much I could say. From seeing Grant step up and play the best golf of his career at this time and seeing him and Camden make the All-Conference team and representing the 2nd team and highlight the Eagles depth just brings such a smile to my face.  Having Jonathan step up and bounce back after a rocky start and watching Dylan come from outside the top 15 to finish top 10 and earning his 2nd all arrowhead conference honor. And smaller individual wins like Cooper Spears breaking 90 again and Jack Bauer shooting his season low this weekend.

At the end of the day 7 of 15 is incredible. Last year we only had 1 player in the top 15. So, seeing so many of IVCC in the top 15 this year and the team celebrating each other was just awesome to soak in.  We have 1 more event this Friday in Morris at the JJC Invite and I am looking to continue the success and hopefully snag that 3rd win this season and take all this momentum and get ready for the Spring and Nationals season."
